Horse & Jockey Table Table
About This Spot
Stepping into the Horse & Jockey Table Table, you’re immediately embraced by the warm, unpretentious charm of a classic British pub that doubles as a lively family restaurant and beloved breakfast spot. The hum of friendly chatter blends seamlessly with the gentle clinking of cutlery and casual laughter, creating an atmosphere that feels both familiar and inviting—where locals gather, stories are shared, and the day unfolds at a comfortable, easy pace.
This is a place where mornings start with hearty, satisfying breakfasts that range from traditional full English fare to more adventurous, all-you-can-eat platters, setting the tone for a day of simple pleasures. As afternoon turns to evening, the mood shifts naturally into something a bit more spirited without losing the relaxed, welcoming vibe—a perfect backdrop to unwind over a thoughtful selection of comforting pub classics and carefully poured local ales.
The menu here isn’t just about ticking boxes; it’s woven into the rhythm of the place, reflecting both timeless favourites and fresh, homely touches—from the comforting warmth of a beef and ale pie to the vibrant kick of a sweet potato curry, all prepared with an eye for generous portions and honest flavour. Whether it’s a quick lunch, a weekend feast, or a casual meet-up, the nostalgic familiarity of dishes like gammon, chips, and subtle vegan options speak to a kitchen that knows its neighbourhood well.
What really brings the Horse & Jockey to life is the genuine attentiveness of the team behind the bar and kitchen, who balance busy days with a quiet dedication that never feels rushed or mechanical. It’s this human moment—you might notice it in a smile exchanged across a crowded room or the thoughtful recommendation made at just the right time—that makes returning here feel less like a visit and more like coming home.
Beyond the food, the space welcomes families, friends, and even special occasions with an easygoing hospitality that leaves room for laughter, relaxed conversations, and the simple joy of sharing good moments. Whether it’s a catching-up coffee, a spirited night out, or a weekend gathering with loved ones, the Horse & Jockey Table Table quietly thrives as a place where local life happens in all its cheerful, laid-back rhythm.

Ordered the smothered mixed grill, which was decent but the portion felt a tad small, considering the portions I’ve seen at other places. The sundae I had for dessert was pretty nice and surprisingly light. They should sort out staff shortages as the poor server was working on her own for most of the time we were eating!

Had a really nice meal. The food and service were both excellent. The manager was very friendly and professional and despite the lack of staff, there were no issues with the service. Special mention to Rebecca, the young waitress who was very attentive and friendly. She was a real credit to the restaurant and her level of service and attentiveness was second to none. A lovely meal and fantastic service. Thank you.

My friend & I went for lunch today, we were very impressed. We both had the lunch time deal £5 each. The service was excellent, the food was lovely & well presented. Really enjoyed it & will definitely come back. Thank-you to both rosie's who looked after us, I would definitely recommend a visit.

I came into the horse and jockey this morning, I had an absolutely brilliant breakfast as-well as a wide range of pastries cereals and fruit. The food came out very quickly and was hot, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I came back in the evening, since I’m staying in The Premier Inn, and had an incredible Mixed Grill. Again, the service was fast and the food was lovely, there are great deals on drinks and food throughout the week. Great restaurant and atmosphere, will be back!

I hosted my nieces baby shower at the Horse and Jockey for 30 guests in December. The staff were very accommodating and the food was great. Would highly recommend for gatherings.

We had a lovely family meal at the Horse and Jockey to celebrate my mum’s birthday. Rosie, the staff member who looked after us, was outstanding. She went out of her to make everything good for us all and really looked after my mum. This was in spite of the fact that the place was busy and there was lots to do. We were all happy with our meals and the excellent level of service. Will definitely be going again. Thanks Rosie, you made our afternoon special.
